Frank Welker

This is probably going to be short. Despite the fact that there is much to be said about Mr. Frank Welker.

Welker is a voice actor who is maybe best known as Fred from Scooby-Doo, or more recently known as Nibbler from Futurama. And looking down his IMDb profile, you find that he is in everything.

Futurama
Grim & Evil
Codename: Kids Next Door
Kim Possible
Harvey Birdman
Robot Chicken
Family Guy
Lilo & Stitch
Spongebob Squarepants
Megas XLR
Duck Dodgers
Totally Spies
Dexter’s Lab
Powerpuff Girls
Johnny Bravo
The Simpsons
Jackie Chan Adventures
Animaniacs
Pinky & The Brain
Wild Thornberrys
Johnny Quest
Freakazoid
Gargoyles
Garfield
Swat Kats
Goof Troop
Sonic The Hedgehog

The list just keeps going

Tiny Toons
Darkwing Duck
Ghostbusters
Captain N
Talespin

Fuck!

He also voiced the vast majority of the Transformers, including Megatron.

So naturally somewhere in that long list, he’s done voices for the DCAU. And I am delighted to tell you who.

That is Ace.

Frank Welker voices Ace. Had it even occurred to you that someone had to make all the doggie noises?

In addition to Ace, he’s voices Isis, Catwoman’s cat:

and Woof, the hyena splicer dude thing

He’s also done voices on Superman, and Static Shock.

Next week is gonna be a pile of holiday spirit bullshit wooo!

Comic Scan: Batman Adventures Holiday Special

If I had total control over ol’ Bruce, I certainly wouldn’t spend all my time shopping, if ya catch my drift.

DCAU Wishlist

It is December 12th! 12 days until Christmas Eve, and 12 days to wrap up your holiday shopping. And as you go down your lists of gift recipients, I’m sure you’ve not forgotten about little old me! Because let’s face it, I really do need more shit. My DCAU collection is quite robust, I assure you, but let’s take a gander at some of things on my DCAU Wishlist.

You’ll recall I recently became the proud owner of that Superman stapler, but that line of desk accessories didn’t end there. There’s also a Wonder Woman notepad and a Batman pencil holder:

I’m pretty sure you can put pencils or something in Wondy’s lasso there too, and then they have to tell the truth. Really if I were to own both of those things, I would have to add “bigger desk” to my wish list. Maybe some sort of awesome desk with like a bunch of little monitors that I can put on a bunch of different TV stations and stuff.

Next is this Martian Manhunter wall bust:

I find the MM wall bust to be the most appropriate given his ability to actually walk through walls, but this would be better if he were making some sort of kissy face or something like that.

I am dying to get my hands on the Batman Beyond CDs. I have a bunch of the DCAU theme songs on my ipod, along with the Mask of the Phantasm soundtrack and I’ve been trying to figure out if I can get the special “all-music” track of Destroyer ripped from my DVD somehow. I love the music of the DCAU, and especially Batman Beyond and every time Bruce Timm is like “I have a bunch of CDs of the music” I want to make him ridiculous offers for them, like a kidney if he needs it, or a bunch of coupons good for various chores around his house.

One line of DCAU merchandising I am severely lacking in is the games. From what I hear, all of them are bad. Especially a certain Superman 64. But this is me, ok? We are talking about the person who owns that fucking stapler. You think I don’t want all those games? Because I fucking do.

Sure, it would be cool to someday own all the stuff, and I hope to at some point get all the Superman and Batman Beyond comics (of which I currently have very, very few). But what do I really want for my DCAU collection this Christmas?

This:

Giclée on canvas, lines by Bruce Timm, colors by Alex Ross.

It’s only $1,050. Of course, I would want it framed so that’s an extra $150, so $1200 total.

Who wants to make this the best Christmas ever?

Do any crazy rich people read this?

That would be killer awesome.

POV

This might be the only episode review this week as I do a Christmas thing on Wednesday and a voice actor thing on Friday. Next week will probably be more holiday stuff and I’m gonna whip out holiday scans for the rest of the month as well. After Christmas, I think I’m going to do something I have yet to do, 2 parters from series other than JL. And there’s quite a few B:TAS episodes so I’m not sure which one to do. Maybe I’ll pick a few and put it up to a vote? I don’t know. Anyway, I watched P.O.V., an episode of B:TAS focusing on the fact that even if you tell the truth fatasses and jerks will ruin it so you still get in trouble. Thanks a lot.

I was always really bad at getting the moral of stories.

TGIVADCAUC

It’s Friday! Thank God! Thank fucking Christ. I am ready to relax. How ’bout you guys? My Friday evening will possibly consist of going to show, maybe consist of spending money, and probably consist of eating junk food and playing video games/watching cartoons. Back in the day though, Fridays were a time to come home, put on ABC and watch the gang on the wonderful block of programming that was TGIF.

The schedule changed over the years and a large number of people appeared on the various shows that formed the wholesome tapestry that ABC called family programming. In this wide group of people, there’s bound to be some intersect with the vast array of people that have lent their voice talent to the DCAU. It’s time for Thank Go(o)d(ness) I Voiced a DCAU Character.

I almost drew a Venn diagram for this.

Superman Stapler: How Wonderful Is It?

I warn you, dear readers, I was not prepared for what awaited me outside my doorstep yesterday. Not knowing what the package contained, the discovery of its contents nearly was the end of me. But I implore you to prepare yourselves now. Prepare for blurry pictures. Prepare to be amazed. Put some kryptonite paper in your utility belt and prepare for

The Superman Stapler.

I recently discussed this product in an entry on Justice League office supplies and praised how mindblowing it obviously was, and how spectacular it would look on my desk. Well my secret santa heard my woeful cries and bestowed this wonderful gift upon me.

The product was supposed to look something like this:

It looks like this:

Except more this-y:

The stapler is slightly smaller than I expected, though is probably still currently holding my lifetime supply of staples as my need to staple anything has dropped significantly since college.

Let’s take her for a trial run right now though! What do I have around here to staple?

I ponder stapling shut a Superman/Batman issue with Michael Turner art, but would have to go to the effort of digging the comic out and instead opt for this map of Wyoming.

Nobody’s fuckin’ looking at that map again!

Spotlight on some voice actors on Friday, and back to episodes again on Monday.

Super-Stapling

I am now the proud owner of that incredibly silly Superman stapler, officially the dumbest DCAU product in my possession.

Details and pictures to come.
